HKSTP and beNovelty Host Apidays Connect Hong Kong 2023 to Boost Digital Economy Development
City’s biggest API-first conference gathers industry leaders to enhance Hong Kong’s digital ecosystem
(Hong Kong, 30 August 2023) – Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) and beNovelty, an award-winning API (Application Programming Interface) company in Hong Kong, successfully co-hosted the Apidays Connect Hong Kong 2023 (the Conference), attracting over 1,000 participants from around the world.
Focused on the transformative power of APIs in reshaping businesses and driving the development of the digital economy in Hong Kong, the Conference marked HKSTP’s fourth year of support for this event, demonstrating its commitment to building a vibrant API ecosystem that promotes cross-industry collaboration and drives the adoption of innovative technologies.
Dr Crystal Fok, Head of STP Platform, HKSTP, emphasized the importance of collaboration across industries in today’s dynamic business landscape during her speech at the Conference. She said, “The convergence of Open Banking and Open Insurance creates the potential for Open Finance to emerge. As the ecosystem expands, more players join the field, paving the way for new opportunities and innovations in and beyond the financial industry. The launch of the API Hub brings together corporates, providing them with easy access to data and solutions to capture and maximize synergy across industries. The goal is to break down silos and harness the power of technology and business working in harmony to deliver unprecedented value.”
HKSTP has been a pioneering force in enabling business transformation through data and technology. The OpenAPI Platform, a central repository of Open Banking APIs, has successfully partnered with 27 banks, granting access to more than 1,200 APIs since its launch. Following the success of the OpenAPI Platform, the API Hub serves as a reliable gateway to a wide range of APIs, catering to various disciplines and industries. Enterprises can access and deploy market-ready data and functionalities, while technology enablers gain greater visibility to connect with partners and customers – all on one single platform. This fosters meaningful collaborations, leading to innovations in a stronger API ecosystem in Hong Kong.

The Apidays Connect Hong Kong 2023, part of the world’s leading API series, embraced a hybrid format for the first time after three years. With the theme “the API Landscape of Hong Kong,” the event featured 45 global speakers who shared valuable insights on leveraging APIs to enhance processes and improve customer experiences. Attendees had the opportunity to stay updated on the latest API applications, network with industry experts, and gain valuable insights into the future of Hong Kong’s API ecosystem.
